Terms
Terms of Service.
Effective date: 2 October 2026. These terms apply when you buy and use Shoot Plan, the filming-plan service at theamateur.co.uk. Please read them before you buy. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us
Shoot Plan is provided by The Amateur Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17469492), registered office 101 High Street, Great Cambourne, Cambridge CB23 6FZ. Contact us at support@theamateur.co.uk or through Support in your account.
2. What you buy
Each Shoot Plan purchase gives you one practical filming plan for the scope you choose (length of your finished video, key moments, locations, people on camera, filming time and extras), including one revision. A key moment is one thing the viewer must see or hear. You film your own material: Shoot Plan does not include filming, editing or finished video.
3. Ordering and payment
You add plans to your basket and pay at checkout. Prices are shown in pounds sterling. The price shown is the full price you pay. Payment is taken by card through our payment provider, Stripe. Our contract with you starts when your payment is confirmed; we then email an order confirmation. Stripe also emails you a payment receipt. An unfinished checkout is not an order, and nothing is charged for it.
You must be 18 or over to open an account or buy a plan.
Plans work in an up-to-date web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. To use a plan where there's no signal, choose "Save for offline use" before you go, or print it or save it as a PDF.
4. Creating and using your plan
After payment you describe your shoot and create each plan when you are ready. Your plans stay available in your account, with your progress and exports. Any written revision request you send us is removed after the period set out in our privacy notice. The plan itself stays available.
5. Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer, you can cancel any plan you have not yet created within 14 days of payment and receive a full refund for it. You don't need to give a reason.
When you create a plan, you ask us to provide the service straight away. Before we do, you confirm that you understand that creating the plan starts the service, and that you can then no longer cancel that plan for a refund. We confirm this by email. Once a plan has been created, the right to cancel it ends.
You can use our model cancellation form, or cancel with a clear statement by email to support@theamateur.co.uk, or by choosing Request a refund in your account.
6. Refunds
- Change of mind: a full refund for any unused plan requested within 14 days of payment. After 14 days, or once a plan has been created, we do not give change-of-mind refunds. We pay change-of-mind refunds to the card you paid with within 14 days of the day you tell us you're cancelling.
- If something is wrong with a plan: choose Contact support on the order page (Account → Orders, then View order), or open Support. Include your order reference and tell us what's wrong. Paid orders also have a Report a problem link. If a plan is faulty or not as described, we will correct it without using your included revision. If we can't put it right within a reasonable time, you are entitled to a price reduction or a refund, paid to the card you paid with within 14 days of our agreeing you're entitled to it.
To cancel, open the order in your account and choose Request a refund, or contact us. These rules do not affect your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
7. Revisions
Each plan includes one revision of your choice. Corrections to faults don't use your revision.
8. If you buy as a business
The change-of-mind refund in Sections 5 and 6 applies to consumers. If you buy for a business, we will still correct faulty plans, and we may offer refunds at our discretion.
9. Our responsibility to you
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the conduct of a shoot, for decisions you make on location, or for losses that were not foreseeable. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breaching your legal rights as a consumer.
10. Your account
Keep your sign-in secure.
We may suspend or close your account if it's used in breach of these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy. We'll tell you why and, unless there's a serious reason not to, give you reasonable notice first. If we close your account, we'll refund any plan you've paid for but not yet created, unless the payment has already been reversed, for example through a chargeback. Refunds go to the card you paid with. If we suspend your account, plans you haven't created stay available when the suspension ends, or you can ask us to refund them instead. Before we close an account we'll give you the chance to export plans you've created, unless the law or someone's safety stops us.
You can ask us to close your account through Support in your account, or by emailing support@theamateur.co.uk. Once we've checked the request comes from you, we'll close the account and refund any plan you've paid for but not yet created, even if the 14-day cancellation period has passed. Closing your account deletes your plans, so export any you want to keep first. This doesn't affect your rights under section 6 if a plan is faulty. We keep some records for the periods set out in our privacy notice.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in the law or the service. The terms that applied when you paid apply to that order.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in England and Wales, or in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there. Please contact us first; we will try to resolve any problem quickly.
