Terms

Terms of Service.

Effective date: 28 September 2026. These terms apply when you buy and use Shoot Plan, the filming-plan service at theamateur.co.uk. Please read them before you buy. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. About us

Shoot Plan is provided by The Amateur Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17469492), registered office 101 High Street, Great Cambourne, Cambridge CB23 6FZ. Contact us at support@theamateur.co.uk or through Support in your account.

2. What you buy

Each Shoot Plan purchase gives you one practical filming plan for the scope you choose (running time, scenes, locations, people and filming time), including one revision. You film your own material: Shoot Plan does not include filming, editing, generated imagery or finished video. The plan is a planning aid; you remain responsible for permissions, access, safety and the people you film, as set out in our Acceptable Use Policy.

3. Ordering and payment

You add plans to your basket and pay at checkout. Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include any VAT that applies. Payment is taken by card through our payment provider, Stripe. Our contract with you starts when your payment is confirmed; we then email an order confirmation. An unfinished checkout is not an order, and nothing is charged for it.

4. Creating and using your plan

After payment you describe your shoot and create each plan when you are ready. Your plans stay available in your account, with your progress and exports. Private brief text you send us is removed after the period described in our privacy notice; the structured plan itself remains available.

5. Your right to cancel

If you are a consumer, you can cancel any plan you have not yet created within 14 days of payment and receive a full refund for it. You don't need to give a reason.

When you create a plan, you ask us to provide the service straight away. Before we do, you confirm that you understand that creating the plan starts the service, and that you can then no longer cancel that plan for a refund. We confirm this by email. Once a plan has been created, the right to cancel it ends.

6. Refunds

To cancel, open the order in your account and choose Request a refund, or contact us. These rules do not affect your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

7. Revisions

Each plan includes one revision of your choice. Corrections to faults don't use your revision.

8. If you buy as a business

Sections 5 and 6's change-of-mind refund apply to consumers. If you buy for a business, we will still correct faulty plans, and we may offer refunds at our discretion.

9. Our responsibility to you

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the conduct of a shoot, for decisions you make on location, or for losses that were not foreseeable. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breaching your legal rights as a consumer.

10. Your account

Keep your sign-in secure. We may suspend access if the service is used in breach of our Acceptable Use Policy. You can close your account through Support; plans you have bought remain subject to the retention described in our privacy notice.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in the law or the service. The terms that applied when you paid apply to that order.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in England and Wales, or in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there. Please contact us first; we will try to resolve any problem quickly.
